Mamluki Lancet Mosque is a modern building inspired by the traditional Mamluki architecture of Islamic Cairo, the mass is designed to respect the context of the land and the direction of Qibla.
Inspired by the Islamic dome pendentive “Moqarnas“ whose basic shape is an offset of a 45° rotation of a square shape around its centre. The idea is to reset these squares to their original size and orientation, and rearrange them in a way where one is facing Qibla, one is aligned with the plot it self, and one is north oriented to cast the most shadow on the northern facade.
